International Mountain Bicycling Association Communications and Website Design Internship
Looking for a self motivator with good communications skills, research skills and interest in webpage development, and of course passionate about mountain biking, in order to update the IMBA Epics webpage, which is by far our most popular webpages on imba.com. The project will be done mostly from home, so the person needs to have access to a computer and internet and a phone. The main activity will be finding and contacting people associated with the management of each epic trail area, and requesting an update on the trail information, associated PR photos that we can use with that trail’s page, and location information (which may also be available on MTBR or Singltrack.com) we can use to create an on-line searchable epics map. Then the intern will input that information into the back end of the webpages using an easy webform. There will be some opportunity to add intern’s creativity with the look and feel of the pages as well, depending on interest and experience.
Exact time frame and hours are very flexible, but the sooner we can get this updated the better. We could start as soon as May, or it could be a summer internship. We have about 50 epic trails, and my guess is that each trail will take 4-8 hours to update from researching and finding contacts, to talking with the contacts, collecting photos, and making the updates on the webpages themselves. So depending on motivation/skill of the intern and ease of connecting with the right people, the project will require 200-400 hours total. This could be a full-time position and take a month or so, or it could be spread out over the whole summer and a little beyond as a part time project.
Intern will have access to some free IMBA gear and prodeals on bike gear for the duration of the project. IMBA staff will also work with the intern to facilitate training in specific areas of interest and work with the intern on any documentation they might need to get credit for this at school. We will also have an hourly position opening in the fall, for which the intern would be welcome to apply.
